Theodore and the Buoy Boat is the sixth episode of the fifth season.

Plot[]

Theodore is taking Barrington barge back and forth to Ceilidh's Cove with supplies. He enjoys going to Ceilidh's Cove because it's outside the Big Harbour and down the coast. He also enjoys visiting the bell buoys as well. He visits Blandford, who lives out on the edge of the ocean. And then he visits Bedford, who lives near the entrance of the harbour. When Theodore visits him, he acts serious and does an official inspection with him. He asks if he's taking any water, then asks about the barnacles or if his bell is causing any dents and asks to hear it. Then he smiles because he knows his friend is shipshape. Then he tells Bedford his adventure until the sun sets.

Next afternoon, Theodore is taking Barrington back from Ceilidh's Cove when he gets a surprise. A ship is lifting Blandford out of the water. Theodore thinks the ship is taking Blandford away, so he leaves Barrington and goes after the ship and orders him to put Blandford down. But then hears him giggling. The ship's name is Baddeck. And it turns out he's forgetful because he forgot where Blandford is. Then he lowers him back down. Theodore asks if he's hurt, but Blandford is just fine. And tells him that Baddeck is a buoy boat. Theodore never heard of a buoy boat before. Baddeck explains that he inspects all the buoys and looks after them. Theodore apologizes for his misunderstanding. Then Baddeck asks if Bedford's still around. It turns out he's also friends with him as well. Theodore asks if he's staying long. But he isn't for too long. That excites Theodore at first, but then he makes things awkward, and goes back to fetch Barrington.

Back at the harbour, Theodore tells Bedford about Baddeck. That excites him and he bobs up and down with joy because he loves it when he lifts other bell buoys and tells stories about them in faraway places. Theodore starts to have a funny feeling about Baddeck. The same one he had before when he lifted Blandford. And he leaves with Barrington. Bedford is concerned for his friend as he doesn't tell him any stories.

The next day, Theodore is returning to the harbour with Barrington in tow again. He sees Baddeck lifting Bedford out of the water and is giggling. But Theodore is still feeling down. Bedford sees Theodore coming and tells Baddeck that he always has a story to tell. Baddeck is eager to listen to them as well. He honks his horn to get Theodore's attention, but he doesn't stop. Barrington asks if they were gonna visit Bedford, but Theodore's not in the mood to visit. Bedford watches him sail away as Baddeck lowers him back down. He doesn't understand why Theodore doesn't want to visit him. Theodore asks Barrington if he likes him even if someone special takes him to Ceilidh's Cove and maybe lifts him out of the water. Barrington gets excited at the thought and is eager to know who would lift him. Theodore gets aggravated and places him in his dock. Then he sees Bedford and Baddeck again and he knows what the funny feeling he had all day was. He thinks Bedford doesn't want to be with him.

Baddeck is about to head home and says goodbye to Bedford. He was really hoping to make friends with Theodore. But he assumes he doesn't like him. Theodore heads back to the dock, when he hears Bedford's bell. He goes to make sure everything's all right. Bedford is happy to see Theodore again. Theodore believes he was having a great day with Baddeck, and he can lift him out of the water. Bedford tells him he has a great time with both of them, and when he floats really close and everything they do together. Theodore soon realizes his mistake that he wasn't too friendly with Baddeck and sees him leaving. So he goes after him and catches up with him after he passes Blandford. And tells him that there's a bell buoy back in the harbour that could use an official inspection from the both of them.

Bedford is bobbing from his spot when he hears two familiar whistles. He sees Theodore and Baddeck coming towards him. They ask if he's taking on any water, then about the barnacles or if his bell is dented and asks to hear it. And they both agree he's shipshape. Theodore tells him that Baddeck decided to visit a little longer, and asks him if he can lift Bedford out of the water again. And he does so, making Bedford giggle. The three of them talk and tell stories until the sun started to set. And they agree that there's nothing better than to share stories together.
