George the Valiant loves to show off; and can sometimes be a little rude without knowing it. He especially loves to tell stories to the other tugs, mostly about himself, and is therefore prone to sulking when attention shifts away from him. He also loves to blow up a lot of smoke from his smokestack and make a lot of loud noises by revving his powerful twin engines. But most of all, George is one of the hardest working tugs in the harbor, and he never finishes a job until it's done. And despite is rough tendencies, George does have a good heart and always stands up for his friends. George and Emily often get into fights, but in the end, they always make up. [1]
He once wanted to be called Goliath, and then Gargantua, in Hank's New Name. He also got his nickname "Georgie" from his new friend Shamus the sea trawler. George loves doing a special move where he swerves around to whatever job he is starting, and was joyed to find out that Sigrid also shares the same move as him. He also seems to like giving orders, but gives too many as he discovers when he, Theodore, and Foduck try to solve an underwater mystery, he soon learns a good leader knows when to follow. In "Theodore and the Borrowed Bell" it was revealed that he likes the stuff Northumberland finds under the water.
Basis
Unlike the other tugs, George does have a tug that served as a basis in some regard. The tug André H. was built in 1963 by Davie Shipbuilding, originally named the Foundation Valiant for Foundation Maritime. In 1973 it was sold to the Eastern Canada Towing Company and renamed the Point Valiant. It was later acquired by Three Rivers Boatmen in 1995 and renamed the André H. Three Rivers Boatmen was acquired by Ocean Group of Quebec in Quebec City. The tug hasn't been active since 2016. George's V-Word "Valiant" is based off this tug's name at the time of filming.
